I spend a fair amount of time in this second section talking about other media and projects, as well as the business of Hollywood. But today, I want to shift the spotlight a little. Instead of discussing someone else’s story, I want to talk about my own—one that’s been quietly taking shape behind the scenes for years.

In just a couple of days (technically tomorrow, since these go up on Thursdays), my first novel will make its debut. It’s both exciting and surreal to type that sentence. This book has lived in outlines, notebooks, and late-night documents for so long that seeing it become something real feels a bit like watching a ghost materialize.

Number 1 New Release!

The novel is called The Grange, and it marks the start of something larger: a shared universe I’ve been building piece by piece. It’s the first in a planned series, with a prequel already taking form for next year. The goal is to eventually expand this world through stories and comic book scripts that have been waiting for the right moment—and the right momentum—to find their audience. (You can check out the cover reveal in my previous post.)

My roots in storytelling go back to 2005, when I began writing comics for my friend Darren Davis of Bluewater Productions. I cut my teeth on Insane Jane, Leprechaun, and Juliet—raw work, but full of energy and experimentation. Those early projects taught me the mechanics of pacing and character, but writing a novel has been a completely different kind of education: longer, lonelier, and far more rewarding.

And now, it’s finally time.

After years of writing, revising, and quietly building this world in the shadows, my debut horror novel will be released tomorrow. And I can hardly believe it’s finally here.

Set in the farmlands of Pennsylvania, The Grange follows Audra Pratt and her father, Kevin, as they seek peace after tragedy—only to discover a community ruled by a secret organization built on blood. Beneath the fields, something ancient is stirring… and once it wakes, nothing in Fleetwood will ever be the same.

This story has lived with me for years. It’s rooted in my love of horror, my Pennsylvania upbringing, and my fascination with how small towns can both protect and destroy. I’ve poured everything I know about tension, humanity, and dread into this book.

Tomorrow, it’s yours.

If you haven’t already, make sure you’re subscribed and following along at www.zacharyhunchar.com. That’s where I’ll share links, behind-the-scenes stories, and a few surprises once The Grange officially launches.

Fleetwood is waiting.
